Hello, I’m Ashley. And I’ll provide some basic makeup tips to stimulate your creativity.
After today...you’ll be able to:
- Bring out the facial features you love
- Enhance your overall appearance and beauty
Okay let’s begin...
Makeup tip #1...
Experiment with your makeup frequently. Even if you are satisfied with your makeup...you should still experiment.
And I’m willing to help you.
Makeup tip #2…
Don’t Choose the Same Makeup as Your Sister... or Best Friend.
You’re special aren’t you?
So why not choose cosmetics to compliment your own unique features. Believe me...this selfish approach goes a long way.
Now this doesn’t mean choosing expensive cosmetics. Expensive cosmetics do not guarantee success as they may not suit your skin type.
Makeup tip #3
Familiarize Yourself with the Basic Makeup Tools.
You can have the most expensive make-up, but it won’t look great unless it’s applied carefully using the right tools. This ensures that you get that professional finish.
Of course, some investments in a set of good brushes and applicators are required to bring out the creative make-up artist in you.
Here are the 5 Main Makeup Tools that you’ll need
- Makeup sponges - A wedge-shaped one is ideal. Its fine edges are designed to help blend in foundation round your nose and jaw line.
The flatter edges can be used for the cheeks, forehead and chin. If you prefer not to use a synthetic sponge try the small, natural ones instead.
Remember to use it damp, not dry.
- Eye-shadow sponge is a sponge applicator that is excellent for applying a sweep of pale eye-shadow. Pale eye-shadow doesn’t need much blending.
This tool can also be used for applying highlighter to your brow bones.
- Powder brush - Get used to using a powder brush every time you put make-up on. Because…it prevents a caked or clogged finish to your face powder.
Use a large, soft brush to dust away any excess.
- Blusher brush - This gives your skin a beautiful glow with a light dusting of powder blusher. A blusher brush is slightly smaller than a powder brush.
That is to make it easier to control.
- Eye-shadow brush - Smooth on any shade of eye-shadow with this brush.
- All-in-one eyelash brush/comb - If you’re looking for a clump-free finish, this is the ideal choice.
Comb through your lashes between the coats of mascara. Then flip the comb over and use the brush side to sweep your eyebrows into shape.
Here’s 5 Tips to Consider When Choosing Products
Reassess your image. Consider:

- Your age. Makeup that suited you at 25 is not going to work 10 years later. Changes in skin tone, texture and hair colour require a change in makeup.
- Your skin tone. Is your skin tone warm or cool? Here’s how to tell.
Look in the mirror while holding a piece of gold and silver in front of your face. The right metal will bring a healthy glow to your skin. But the wrong one will make it look grey.
If gold suits your skin then its warm toned. But if silver suits it, its cool toned.
- Your eye colour and size. Makeup can make small eyes look bigger, blue eyes look bluer and round eyes look longer. Can your current makeup do this for you?
- Your hair colour. Makeup should compliment your hair.
Jet black hair with pale skin goes well with deep red lipstick and black eye makeup. If you are blonde, earthy tones look best.
If your hair is brown or black you will have almost limitless colour freedom.
- Your lifestyle. Make makeup easy for you. There is no point choosing makeup that requires a lot of your time. Especially if you have a busy lifestyle.
