Here’s How to Apply Lipstick

You can apply lipstick to give your face a focus and an instant splash of color.

Lipstick has been around for thousands of years and we women just can never have enough of it, can’t we?

So here are the basics when it comes to applying lipstick.

A Touch of Color

Lipsticks in a bullet form are the most popular way to use lip color.

But…

…Like or not, the best way to apply lipstick is with a lip brush.

Lip gloss

Another option of applying a touch of color is with a lip gloss.

This can be used alone to give your lips an attractive sheen. Or, it can be applied over the top of lipstick to catch the light.

Tinted lip gloss helps to keep lips soft and supple while giving them a hint of color. You can use it on its own, or under or over your lipstick.

Lip Liners

Lip liners are used to provide an outline to your lips before you apply lipstick. You can also use them over your entire lip for a dark, matte effect.

However, you may need to add a touch of lip balm over the top. This prevents the drying out of the delicate skin in that area.

It is particularly important, because that area of skin easily develops fine lines.

Here are 6 Ways to Apply Lipstick to Get the Perfect Lips that you want…

  1. Ensure your lips are soft and supple by smoothing over some lip balm before you start.
  2. Prime your lips with foundation, using a makeup sponge. This ensures that you reach every crevice on the surface.
  3. Lightly dust over the top of the foundation with your usual face powder. This allows your lipstick to stay on longer.
  4. Rest your elbow on a firm surface and draw an outline with a lip pencil. Start with a Cupid’s bow on the top lip, and then draw an outline on your lower lip.
  5. Use a lip brush to fill the outline with lipstick; this helps get a more precise definition. Open your mouth to brush the color into the corners of your lips.
  6. You’ll make your lipstick last longer if you blot over the surface with a tissue. It’ll also give an attractive, semi-matte finish to your lips.
