Acne and Diet. Here's How to Eat and Treat Acne at the Same Time
Acne and Diet is one of the most controversial topics in acne. Some doctors would say that there’s no connection. But others agree that there is a link.
What do I think about acne and diet?
Well most scientific researches deem the matter inconclusive. This means that in some cases there were links but in other tests there were none.
But I play it safe. I act as if there’s a connection for sure. I eat healthy to have healthy skin.
Think about it. What do I have to loose by being healthy?
Know Your Body’s pH. It’s The Key to Acne and Diet.
Ok what does pH mean?
Simply put pH is a measure of our bodies’ chemistry. It is also short for potential of hydrogen.
Now water is ranked 7.0 on the pH scale (the scale is from 1 to 14). This means that water is neutral (i.e. neither acid nor alkaline).
But any reading lower than 7.0 is acidic. And any reading above 7.0 is alkaline.
Here's A Video Explaining What pH is.....
So what does pH values have to do with acne?
Well, a slightly acidic pH is ideal for us humans. If we keep our bodies between 6.0 and 6.8 we’re safe.
But anything outside this range could prove harmful to us.
This concept can also be applied to acne.
If we fall out of range then our chemistry is right for the acne causing bacteria (P. acnes) to grow and develop.
So what causes our bodies to fall out of the safety range?
That’s a good question. The answer is the foods we eat.
See How Diet Influences the Body’s pH
Some foods are acidic in nature while others are alkaline. These foods influence our bodies’ pH values.
But hold on for a minute.
Let’s not change our diets just yet.
Instead...
Let's each find out whether our body fluids are too acidic or too alkaline. As well as the foods that influences our pH.
Is that ok with you?
I’m sure it is. So here what to do:

Here’s How to Eat and Treat Acne at the Same Time
By now we should know whether our body fluids are acidic or alkaline. So let’s apply this knowledge to acne and diet.
So what if we suffer with acne and our bodies are too acidic?
Well here’s what we do:
• We can start by eating a diet of 50% raw foods. Raw foods maintain the ideal pH range (i.e. 6.0 to 6.8) in our bodies. Try foods such as:
• Apples, avocados, bananas, bilberries, blackberries, grapefruit, grapes, lemon, pears, pineapples, strawberries and all vegetables.
• We can also consider drinking potato broth everyday. Potato broth helps to balance and maintain our pH.
So here’s the recipe...
You'll need:
• 3 potatoes
• 1 carrot
• 1 celery stalk (sliced)
• 2 quarts steam-distilled water
• 1 onion (sliced) and/or 3 cloves (peeled)
Now here's what you do......
1. Scrub the potatoes well and cut out the eyes.
2. Cut the potatoes in half and peels it. Make sure to keep about ˝ inch of potato with the peel. Set aside the potato centers for another use.
3. Place the potato peelings, carrot, and celery in a large pot. Cover with the water. Add the onion and/or garlic to taste and boil for about 30 minutes.
4. Cool the broth. Strain and discard the vegetables. And now serve the broth as desired.
Ok so we've got some information on treating acne when our bodies are acidic.
But what if we've got acne and we’re too alkaline?
Ok, here’s what we can do:
• Adopt an acne treatment diet that consists of 80% grains. And should also includes beans, breads, brown rice, crackers, lentils, macaroni, nuts, soy sauce, and whole grain cereals.
• The other 20% of the diet should include: fresh fruits, vegetables, fish, chicken, eggs, and natural cheese.
• We can also cut back on mega doses of vitamins and minerals for two weeks.
• Finally we can check our urine’s pH daily. Why not use the free test you subscribed for earlier on.
So there we have it. We saw the relationship between acne and diet. Remember if our pH is too acidic or alkaline we can encourage the P. acnes bacteria.
So go ahead and try the acne and diet treatments above. It’ll help treat our acne as well as improve our health.
